chains

This morning when i woke up i had an image of two hands bound together in chains.  Feet shackeled together bound to the hands.  I got on facebook shortly there after and there was an image of two hands bound together and there was a quote on the picture "the further society drifts from TRUTH, the more it will hate those that speak it." george orwell

I would imagine that bondage to sin is not what mr orwell was thinking when he pinned these words...but it is so true.  we are often bound by our sin to the point we are totally unaware of it.  we walk through this world living as it does.  We act as the world does.  Are we tired of walking as the world does, when will we call on the name of jesus to Come break our chains?  He is always beside us, walking with us.  He wants to cut our chains to sin...if we would only ask.

2 Corinthians 4:7-18

New Living Translation (NLT)
We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure.[a] This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.
We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. 10 Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.
11 Yes, we live under constant danger of death because we serve Jesus, so that the life of Jesus will be evident in our dying bodies. 12 So we live in the face of death, but this has resulted in eternal life for you.
13 But we continue to preach because we have the same kind of faith the psalmist had when he said, “I believed in God, so I spoke.”[b] 14 We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus,[c] will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you. 15 All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory.
16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are[d] being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

Will we let him come fill us up?  or would we rather go on living and wallowing in our sin?  would we rather be bound to the sins of this world?  I for one want him to come fill me to overflowing.  I don't want anything to do with the ways of this world.  I want to live wholy and totally for him.  Sin can take a hike, cause Jesus is here with  me and in me...it has no place in me.  Will you let him in to drive out sin?  will you let him fill you to overflowing? I pray so!

Father i pray that if there is any body that reads this that needs to pray, or needs someone to pray for them that they wouldn't hesitate to either comment on this post, or somehow get in touch with me.  I pray for those that won't read this or will read it and not pray.  Father help them see you are the only way...this world holds nothing any of us need.  ALL i need is you!

amen

be strong

Joshua 1:6-9

New Living Translation (NLT)
“Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Definition of COURAGEOUS

: having or characterized by courage : brave <a courageous soldier> <a courageous decision>

Definition of STRONG

1 : having or marked by great physical power, not mild or weak
All to often it seems some people when put under pressure by things of this world break....it might mean having a fit or rage or anger towards someone or something....might mean a person takes the life of another in a fit of rage...Jesus would never leave us...nor would he ever want us to carry a burden of sin, or anger around with us.  The devil might try to break us...but is we remember

Matthew 11:28-30

New Living Translation (NLT)
28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

He will take it all away from us, so that we might be strong and courageous to fight off all the tricks the evil one might throw at us!

I pray that I am never too proud, or stubborn to pray that you would take my earthly burden from me!  I am so glad you come running to your children when we call!

Treasure

2 Corinthians 4

New International Version (NIV)

Present Weakness and Resurrection Life

Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”[a] made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Some here in this life work day and night year after year to store up treasure.  Not a single piece of which will matter in the Eternal life.  Jesus doesn't care how much wealth we have, or what kind of house we live in...what car we drive...All he wants is for us to be sanctuaries.  He lives in us already....he wants us to stop acting like the world does...he wants us to be the glove and let him be the hand, leading the glove where it is needed.

Lord i pray that I am never too stuck on this life to lay down all i have to let you be the glove!

in jesus name, amen

rescue

How often do some beleivers wonder through life seemingly lost, or overwhelmed with a situation or tragedy infront of them?  The evil one will use any situation to attempt to tear us from Jesus.  The good side of any seemingly hopeless situation is that we only need cry out to our saviour for help.  He is always beside us just waiting for us to cryout to him.  A good friend of mine just recently lost his great uncle and step brother, with whom he was close.  I offer us this prayer for him tonight.  On his behalf i cryout to jesus for help and comfort.  I pray that you cover my friend with the love that only you could!  Lord i lift you high tonight, you always are there beside me, no matter what!

Prayer below taken from a book of common prayer Printed in 1892

Lighten our darkness, we beseech thee, O Lord; and by thy great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night;  for the love of thy only son, our saviou, jesus christ.   amen.

Repentance

Zephaniah 2:1-3

GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

A Call for Judah to Turn Away From Sin

Gather yourselves together!
Yes, gather together, you shameless nation,
before the decree is carried out
and the day passes like windblown husks,
before the Lord’s burning anger comes to you,
before the day of the Lord’s anger comes to you.
Search for the Lord, all you humble people in the land
    who carry out his justice.
Search for what is right.
Search for humility.
Maybe you will find shelter on the day of the Lord’s anger.

Lord many in this world fall short of what you have called us to be.  There is lots of violence toward each other, mean talk toward each other, people just plain being evil to one another.  Father i pray for revival around the world.  Strengthen us beleivers so that we might be light to those around us.  Bless those already speeking the good word in though places.  give them strength and an open audience to receive the word.  Lord i too fall short of your expectations.  if there be any offensive way in me lord remove it, that i might be an example of your grace to all those i encounter.  Give me the strength and words to say when confronted with a person who is living far apart from you.  Give me the words to say to reach that specific individual!

in your name i pray,  amen

Lost

John 21:15-19

The Message (MSG)

Do You Love Me?

15 After breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?”
“Yes, Master, you know I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
16 He then asked a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?”
“Yes, Master, you know I love you.”
Jesus said, “Shepherd my sheep.”
17-19 Then he said it a third time: “Simon, son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was upset that he asked for the third time, “Do you love me?” so he answered, “Master, you know everything there is to know. You’ve got to know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. I’m telling you the very truth now: When you were young you dressed yourself and went wherever you wished, but when you get old you’ll have to stretch out your hands while someone else dresses you and takes you where you don’t want to go.” He said this to hint at the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. And then he commanded, “Follow me.”

I have been chewing on this verse for the past few days.   I am reminded of the story of the shepard and the lost sheep.  He has 99 who are doing ok, and are safe.  There is 1 that is lost and tangled up in the thorn bushes.  Does the shepard leave the 1 on it's own to find it's way home....NO  he leaves the 99 and sherches desperatly for that 1 that is lost.

many times there are people in our lives that are that 1 lost sheep.  Everyone has at least 1 person that fits this picture.  How many times do we leave the saftey of the 99 and go after the 1?  Lord i pray that i am never too comfortable in the saftey of the 99 to go look for the 1.  I pray that you clense and protect me as I live my life openly for you. That I will never be ashamed to proclaim you name to the lost sheep of the world.  Lord you are my cornerstone, my rock and foundation.

amen

parenting

Some people don't quite understand how important it is for parents to be there for their children.  It breaks my heart knowing that there are children that will grow up seeing their parents fight, seeing their parents angry and in-different  towards their children.  watch the youtube link at the end of this blog, it will explain exactly why it is so important that us as fathers be there no matter what for our children.

 John 21:15-19
New Living Translation (NLT)
15 After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?[a]”

“Yes, Lord,” Peter replied, “you know I love you.”

“Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him.

16 Jesus repeated the question: “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

“Yes, Lord,” Peter said, “you know I love you.”

“Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said.

17 A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.

18 “I tell you the truth, when you were young, you were able to do as you liked; you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted to go. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others[b] will dress you and take you where you don’t want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to let him know by what kind of death he would glorify God. Then Jesus told him, “Follow me.”

The question we all must ask ourselves is are we feeding our sheep (children) gods word and ways ( in our ways and actions ), or are we letting them eat the thorns the world has to offer?

Sheep

Are we feeding our sheep, or letting them eat the thorns and briers of the world? As I stand here fixing breakfast for my family the lord reminded me of John 21: 15-25 and mark 10:41-45

John 21:15-25
New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Reinstates Peter

15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”

“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”

16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”

17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. 18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”

20 Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”) 21 When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”

22 Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” 23 Because of this, the rumor spread among the believers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?”

24 This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.

25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

So are we feeding our sheep with gods word, or allowing them to eat of the world? As a father it is my responsibility to make sure my family eats and drinks from gods word. I am not to be served, but to serve them to the best of my ability, and I will do that with all that is in me! I challenge all those who read this to do like wise. We can make a difference one family at a time!
