what does your heart cry?

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are Godʼs children. 17Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. (Romans 8:15-17 niv)

Mark 14:36New International Version (NIV)

36 “Abba,[a] Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

Galatians 4:6New International Version (NIV)

Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba,[a] Father.”

Having said Yes to the call of god, mortars of the enemy have been fired over the walls of my heart.  My mind is almost constantly turning, thinking about any matter of things.  With deadlines looming and stress mounting, some have said "just stop thinking about the things that stress you."   I know that they mean well in that advice, but the way my mind works, i can't shut it off.  I have woken up at 4 am thinking about stuff that should be far from my mind, but its how i am wired.  Some would say that this is a curse...but I way it is a gift from almighty god.

i could let the mortars and the fiery arrows consume me and my thoughts, but I refuse to let them win.  The spirit of the living god lives and reigns in my heart and soul.  I cry out Abba and he hears me.  That one word has so much power in my soul.  Abba.  (meaning father in Aramaic)

So what does your heart cry?  This Christmas season i pray that you will find time to be still.  I pray that you will take time, maybe with a good cup of coffee and just be still.  You'll be surprised how much of a blessing it will be.  He is fighting for us, sometimes all we need to do is "be still" and we will see.

Psalm 46The Message (MSG)

A Song of the Sons of Korah

46 1-3 God is a safe place to hide,
ready to help when we need him.
We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom,
    courageous in seastorm and earthquake,
Before the rush and roar of oceans,
    the tremors that shift mountains.
Jacob-wrestling God fights for us,
    God-of-Angel-Armies protects us.
4-6 River fountains splash joy, cooling God’s city,
this sacred haunt of the Most High.
God lives here, the streets are safe,
God at your service from crack of dawn.
Godless nations rant and rave, kings and kingdoms threaten,
but Earth does anything he says.
Jacob-wrestling God fights for us,
    God-of-Angel-Armies protects us.
8-10 Attention, all! See the marvels of God!
He plants flowers and trees all over the earth,
Bans war from pole to pole,
breaks all the weapons across his knee.
“Step out of the traffic! Take a long,
loving look at me, your High God,
    above politics, above everything.”
11 Jacob-wrestling God fights for us,
    God-of-Angel-Armies protects us.
