sight

24 One of the twelve disciples, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin),[a] was not with the others when Jesus came. 25 They told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he replied, “I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side.”
26 Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. “Peace be with you,” he said. 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!”
28 “My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed.
29 Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.”

John 20:24-29

There are so many things in this earthly life that can distract us from the works god would have us do.  For most people work is the biggest thing;  of course there are many other things that are also hinderances.   Sadly there are many who will always be distracted.  Some will on their death bed find the will of god.

Thomas wouldn't believe Jesus had risen.  He had to see the wounds, touch them for himself.  I haven't seen the wounds but i believe without a shodow of a dowbt that jesus was beaten for my sins, Died on a cross like a criminal, was buried and rose again.  I am so thankful that i serve a risen savior!  Because he suffered i won't have to endure eternal fire.

lyrics from one of my favorite songs seem to fit where I am at right now.

This is my revelation
Christ Jesus crucified
Salvation through repentance
At the cross on which He died

Now hear my absolution
Forgiveness for my sin
And I sink beneath the waters
That Christ was buried in

I will rise
I will rise
As Christ was raised to life
Now in Him
Now in Him I live

I stand a new creation
Baptised in blood and fire
No fear of condemnation
By faith i'm justified

I will rise
I will rise
As Christ was raised to life
Now in Him
Now in Him I live

Hevenly father, i love you with all that i am.  All i am is yours!

running

we are all running a race.  might be running away from problems.  Running to drugs, alcohol, affairs, every where but where we should be running.  some might say that god may not forgive me if he knew all i have done.  He already knows!  He is calling us to run to him.  he wants his children to run to his feet.  He wants to take out the bolt cutters and free us from our chains.  The evil one has many ways to entangle us.

If anyone who reads this is entangled in chains, ask jesus to come with the bolt cutters and free you!

Lord i run to all you are!  I will never stop running to you!  I pray that if anyone i know is tangled up, you would free them so they can feel freedom that only you can provide!

cornerstone

cor·ner·stone/ˈkôrnərˌstōn/

Noun:
  1. A stone that forms the base of a corner of a building, joining two walls.
  2. An important quality or feature on which a particular thing depends or is based.
“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 3:11). Jesus Christ is God’s foundation stone, and capstone, for mankind and the universe. Let us build our lives upon him, and help others to do the same.

I traveled to richmond today for work.  Two songs played over and over in my head the whole way down and back.  one was cornerstone by hillsong.  The other was I surrender by the same band.  I was lost in worship the whole way there and back.  People probably wondered why i was driving along with my free hand held high.  several times i could feel him there in the passenger seat beside me.

Lord you are my cornerstone.  I am weak by myself, but with you lord i am unbreakable.  Even though the sea is at times stormy, i know you will never leave me...never forsake me.  You are my anchor and refuge.  I draw near to you, all i am is yours!!

Rise people of god

They took jesus away. carrying his cross, jesus went out to a place called skull hill, where they crucified him...

John 19: 16-18 the message

He was sold out for silver.  Falsely accused of crimes.  They cursed at him...spit at him...beat him...and crucified him.  What they didn't know was that 3 days later, the tomb was empty!!!  My Jesus did all this so i wouldn't have to die eternally.  He did all of this so i could rise with him!  I am so unworthy of his love and grace.  Here lately i have been stuck on the song by hillsong beneath the waters .

below is a passage from my devotional

God knows best what cross we need to bear. We do not know how heavy other people's crosses are. We envy someone who is rich; his is a golden cross set with jewels, but we do not know how heavy it is. Here is another whose life seems very lovely. She bears a cross twined with flowers. If we could try all the other crosses that we think lighter than our own, we would at last find that not one of them suited us so well as our own.

hillsong - fire fall down

Father thank you will never be enough for what your son did for me on the cross.  I pray that if there is any offensive way in me remove it.  Let your holy fire fall on me lord.  Lord i seek to do nothing but your will.  I pray for all my christian brothers and sisters.  Lord let your holy fire fall on them.  Let us be a light so bright for the lost that they would be like a moth to a flame!  Lord i stand here arms wide in worship of you.  show me your heart, show me your way, show me your glory!  Fill me oh lord!

in jesus name amen!

prayer

Taken from todays devotional in "my utmost for his highest"  by oswald chambers

Prayer is not a normal part of the life of the natural man. We hear it said that a person’s life will suffer if he doesn’t pray, but I question that. What will suffer is the life of the Son of God in him, which is nourished not by food, but by prayer. When a person is born again from above, the life of the Son of God is born in him, and he can either starve or nourish that life. Prayer is the way that the life of God in us is nourished. Our common ideas regarding prayer are not found in the New Testament. We look upon prayer simply as a means of getting things for ourselves, but the biblical purpose of prayer is that we may get to know God Himself.

To say that “prayer changes things” is not as close to the truth as saying, “Prayer changes me and then I change things.” God has established things so that prayer, on the basis of redemption, changes the way a person looks at things. Prayer is not a matter of changing things externally, but one of working miracles in a person’s inner nature.

Father help me to pray not for things i want, but that your will would be done in my life.  Help me to constantly be in prayer to you.  I want to saturate in your presence.  I pray for the pastors and staff at my local church, that you would overwhelm them with your presence in a good way.  I pray for all those i know, that no matter what their situation that your presence would fill them.  I want to be like clay in your hands, mold me into what you would have me be.  all this i pray in jesus name

amen

Love

If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.

 (1 Corinthians 13:1-7, The Message)

I was riding home this evening, and the song "the proof of your love" by for king and country came on.  This verse spoke to me.

Lord I pray that i love as you did.  I pray that I approach every situation showing the love that you would.  I pray that you fill me with the love that only you could.

home

"My Home is God Himself"; Christ brought me there.
I laid me down within His mighty arms;
He took me up, and safe from all alarms
He bore me "where no foot but His hath trod,"
Within the holiest at Home with God,
And bade me dwell in Him, rejoicing there.
O Holy Place! O Home divinely fair!
And we, God's little ones, abiding there.

"My Home is God Himself"; it was not so!
A long, long road I traveled night and day,
And sought to find within myself some way,
Aught I could do, or feel to bring me near;
Self effort failed, and I was filled with fear,
And then I found Christ was the only way,
That I must come to Him and in Him stay,
And God had told me so.

And now "my Home is God," and sheltered there,
God meets the trials of my earthly life,
God compasses me round from storm and strife,
God takes the burden of my daily care.
O Wondrous Place! O Home divinely fair!
And I, God's little one, safe hidden there.
Lord, as I dwell in Thee and Thou in me,
So make me dead to everything but Thee;
That as I rest within my Home most fair,
My soul may evermore and only see
My God in everything and everywhere;
My Home is God.

Hevenly father my home is in you!  Everything i have and everything i am comes from you!  I Pray that the way i live entices others to taste and see that you are good!

light

1 John 1:5-10

New Living Translation (NLT)

Living in the Light

This is the message we heard from Jesus[a] and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.

1 John 2

New Living Translation (NLT)
My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.
And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.

A New Commandment

Dear friends, I am not writing a new commandment for you; rather it is an old one you have had from the very beginning. This old commandment—to love one another—is the same message you heard before. Yet it is also new. Jesus lived the truth of this commandment, and you also are living it. For the darkness is disappearing, and the true light is already shining.
If anyone claims, “I am living in the light,” but hates a Christian brother or sister,[a] that person is still living in darkness. 10 Anyone who loves another brother or sister[b] is living in the light and does not cause others to stumble. 11 But anyone who hates another brother or sister is still living and walking in darkness. Such a person does not know the way to go, having been blinded by the darkness.

Lord I have lived in the darkness, you were there beside me the whole time.  I am still not perfect, but am in prayer about  my shortcomings  I still have many friends that are living in darkness.  Lord i pray for all those in my circle of influence, that they might come from the darkness to the light.  Many in this world have been blinded by the darkness, we have all been in that place at one time or another. I pray that my life can be a beacon to those who are still locked in darkness.  i pray that they find comfort in the light as our savior is in the light!!

Willing

How willing are we to really do gods will?  Are we willing to forsake all to do as he leads us?  Are we willing to go to our own calvalry for sharing the good news, or for witnessing to others?

I was reading in revelation 19 and 20 tonight.  It has made me really think....am I really willing?  Would I go to my own calvalry for him?   Answer is yes!!!   I would!  I sometimes think of having a pray-in at a public place, like the mall.  Not doing anything, just sitting on a bench with fellow beleivers praying for those who pass by.

Ihp!

rise up

riding home for work today I was listening to klove on the radio, and they played this song.  It touched me and kinda emphasized where i have been in my walk.  I have been praying for god to fill me with his holy fire, and  to be a lamp stand for him.

andy cherry - our god's alive

Reigning on His throne
Drawing ever close
Giving us this hope
He'll never let us go
Oh, death has been defeated
Jesus Christ, Redeemer
Conquered hell and freed us
Forever we are saved

Rise with a shout,
Cry out our God's alive
Rise holy fire,
Burn bright, burn bright
Rise with a shout,
Cry out for freedom
Rise church, arise
Our God's alive

lord as a man it is my responsibility to be a spiritual rock for my family.  I pray that all men is this land will rise up and burn bright for you!  i pray that i will rise up and burn bright!  i pray that the church rises up and burns bright.  I Pray especially for pastor kerry.  i pray that you would continue to lead him in his walk, that you would continue to give him only the peace you can give!

Work

Taken from one of my devotionals:

Three men working on a building site were asked what they were doing.  One said, " I'm earning a living. ". The second said, " I'm filling this truck with dirt and dropping it over there." The third said, " I'm building a cathedral for the glory of god." All three answered accurately, but their perceptions of their work varied widely, stimulating them to look their work through new eyes.

Lord help me as I go about my duties at work, help me to always keep in mind that to the eyes of most I am working for man, but infact I am working always for you.  Help me to always use my duties to glorify you!  Help me to be a light to those around me that are lost.

praise

He was betrayed, crucified, and buried.  He was beaten for our sins.  crucified so we might live with him.  Lord i am so thankful you went to the cross for me.  I pray that i will never take for granted what you did for me.  For i was still a sinner and you died for me! I was lost and you found me, and will never leave me!

Isiah 49
15     Can a woman forget her nursing child?
Will she have no compassion on the child from her womb?
    Although mothers may forget,
        I will not forget you.
16     I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.
Your walls are always in my presence.

John 3:17

GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
17 God sent his Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but to save the world.

Lord thank you can never be enough for what you did for me on the cross.  When i was still a sinner you loved me enough to die so i wouldn't have to, so that i might live with you in heaven!  Lord let me rest in your presence that is always with me!  Let me be a light unto others that they might come to know you!

dry

ever feel spiritually dry? ever feel like the enemy is trying to steal your rest?  I am reminded of lyrics from a favorite song.

Rain
Lord we thirst for water
Rain
We are desert Land
Rain
On your sons and daughters
Rain
Bring your rain again

Like the gospel of matthew says in 11:28 " come to me all you who are weary and heavy burdened and i will give you rest."

Lord we live in a dry and thirsty land.  There is a spiritual drought in this land.  I pray for you to rain down your love and mercy on us!  Lord i pray that if there is any offensive way in me clense me of it.  I want to live in your presence!

sin

One of the worst three letter words there is.  It can  lead us many places, and all of them are far from god.  A lot of churches want people to clean up their act when they come to church.  Some are afraid to set foot in church because of the sins they have committed.  They think that god will never forgive them for what they have done.  This can't be further from the truth.  When jesus was on this earth he would seek out those that most people wouldn't dare go near.

Jesus wants us to come to him just as we are.  He wants us to come to him and lay down the burdens that plague us at his nail scared feet.  If we would only bown down and give it all to him the weight would be lifted off of our shoulders.  Nobody is too far from gods grace and forgiveness!!

If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
You see, we don’t go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.
We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure.[b] This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.
We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. 10 Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.
11 Yes, we live under constant danger of death because we serve Jesus, so that the life of Jesus will be evident in our dying bodies. 12 So we live in the face of death, but this has resulted in eternal life for you.
13 But we continue to preach because we have the same kind of faith the psalmist had when he said, “I believed in God, so I spoke.”[c] 14 We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus,[d] will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you. 15 All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory.
16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are[e] being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

2 corinthians 4 3-18

Lord i pray that i am light to those i know who's eyes are hidden behind satans veil!   I pray that your love is so inviting that they can't resist you!  I pray that i do your will!

in your sons precious name i pray,

hardships

The best things in life are the result of being wounded.  Wheat must be crushed before becoming bread, and incense must be burned by fire before its fragrance is set free.  The earth must be broken with a sharp plow before being ready to receive the seed.  And it is a broken heart that pleases god.

In order to live life in his presence we must be broken to ourselves totally.  We must be totally surrendered to him and his will for us.  If we are not totally broken to ourselves we are still worldly and subject to all it's slings, arrows, and pitfalls.  We must be totally ready and a moments notice to do what he asks.

Lord i pray that i am totally ready to do your will.  I pray that through my travels and how i conduct myself that i am a beacon in a dark and thirsty land.  I pray that i am the kind of father and husband that leads my family in your way.  I pray that i and the kind of servant, ready to do your will anytime!

Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
Though he was God,[a]
he did not think of equality with God
    as something to cling to.
Instead, he gave up his divine privileges[b];
he took the humble position of a slave[c]
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,[d]
he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

dark and light

why is it that when dark clouds roll in we automatically become afraid?  Is it a deluge of rain, or the storm and lightening we are afraid of?  is it the uncertainty of what will happen?  it's only natural for us as humans to be afraid in times of dark clouds.  I for one am glad i have a loving god to lean on in these times.

don't so easily forget that the one who loves us, and gave himself for us is always right by our side either walking beside us, or carrying us through the storm.

the lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

deuteronomy 31:8

lord i pray that in times of dark clouds that you would help me to lean on you.  I know your path is the one i want to follow.  I fully trust you to go before me and open up the path.  even in the storms that will shake me, i know you are right by my side.  even in the flood i know you are the rock i grab onto.  I pray that I can be a light to all those i know that are afraid of the dark clouds in their lives.

holy fire

lyrics from one of my favorite songs  Hillsong "fire fall down"

Cause I know... that you're alive
You came to fix... my broken life
And I'll sing... to glorify
Your Holy Name... Jesus Christ

You bought my life
With the blood that you she'd on the cross when you died
For the sins of men and you let out a cry
Crucified now alive... in me

These hands are yours
Teach them to serve as you please and I'll reach out
Desperate to see all the greatness of God
May my soul rest assured... in you

I'll never be the same
No I'll never be the same

Cause I know... that you're alive
You came to fix... my broken life
And I'll sing... to glorify
Your Holy Name... Jesus Christ
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/h/hillsong_united/fire_fall_down.html ]
You changed it all
You broke down the wall when I spoke and confessed
In you I am blessed
Now I walk in the light
In victorious sight... of you

I'll never be the same
No I'll never be the same

Cause I know... that you're alive
You came to fix... my broken life
And I'll sing... to glorify
Your Holy Name... Jesus Christ

Cause I know... that you're alive
You came to fix... my broken life
And I'll sing... to glorify
Your Holy Name... Jesus Christ

Your fire... fall down
Your fire... fall down... on us we pray
As we seek
Your fire... fall down
Your fire... fall down... on us we pray
As we seek
Your fire... fall down
Your fire... fall down... on us we pray
As we seek you Lord...

Show me your heart
Show me your way
Show me your glory

father i pray that you would rain down your love and mercy on me that i might be a messenger to share it with not only my speach, but the way i live my life and my actions.  as a father and husband i pray that i am your light to my family that i lead them with the love and respect that they deserve.  i pray that you would also rain your love and mercy on all those i know that they too might know you in a deeper way!  lord i love you!

Living Sacrifice

Romans 12

New Living Translation (NLT)

A Living Sacrifice to God

12 And so, dear brothers and sisters,[a] I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.[b] Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Because of the privilege and authority[c] God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.[d] Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.
In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

god has gifted us each with something, it's up to us to pray and seek his will for what our gift is.  No matter what your gift is, use it to the best of your ability to give god the most glory!

i pray that we don't become worldly, but would pray and seek god in what our gifts are to share his good news with the world.

amen

trust

16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

galatians5:16,17  NLT

"you are my beloved.  although you experience many difficulties in your life, i shield you all day long.  you cannot imagine what your life would be like if i were not protecting you continually.  the adversity i do allow you to experience is ultimately for your good and my glory.  you can rest secure by trusting that my protective presence is with you always, no matter what trials you may be enduring."

sarah young

often as we experience trials in our lives, we are quick to assume god has abandoned us.  this couldn't be further from the truth.   he is always there right beside us no matter what the situation.  when we need him he carries us when we can't make it ourselves.

Lord i am thankful you carry me when i am weak.  I am thankful you are always beside me, no matter what trials i am going through.  I pray that we as believers won't be quick to assume you are not there, but instead to take the time to pray.

thankful

"I take much pleasure in your praise, which blesses both me and you-putting you into proper alignment with my glorious presence.  the more you praise me, the more you will be able to reflect my glory among the peoples.  this is the work of the holy spirit, who is transforming you into my likeness with ever increasing glory.  as you draw near me through worship, i change you profoundly-empowering you to make me known to others."

this is a quote taken from my devotional my sarah young.

But he was pierced for our rebellion,
    crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.
All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on him
    the sins of us all.
He was oppressed and treated harshly,
yet he never said a word.
He was led like a lamb to the slaughter.
And as a sheep is silent before the shearers,
he did not open his mouth.

isaiah 53:5-7 nlt

father god, there are no words to thank you for sending your only son to die for me.  I bow down and thank you with all my heart.  I give you full control, to be your light waver!

Most of us go about life not much thinking about the things we say, or do to other people.  It makes me sad the way we treat each other.  when we treat others like dirt we are really doing the same to jesus.  For what ever you do unto the least of these, you do unto me.  Jesus is right before us, and most will never realize it.  I to am sometimes guilty of treating others less than what a christian should.  Lord i pray that you would help me to treat others like i should treat you!  I love you father.  I pray that all who read this post would take the time to pray that they too would treat others like you would want to be treated, no matter what the situation.

in jesus name, amen

salt and light

13 “You are salt for the earth. But if salt loses its taste, how will it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled on by people.
14 “You are light for the world. A city cannot be hidden when it is located on a hill. 15 No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket. Instead, everyone who lights a lamp puts it on a lamp stand. Then its light shines on everyone in the house. 16 In the same way let your light shine in front of people. Then they will see the good that you do and praise your Father in heaven.

matthew 5 13-16 gwt
